This is a very cute product that you can use to make mealtime fun. You just put a hot dog or sausage in the base of slicer and then put the dog part on top and push down. This will create small bite-sized slices of the hot dog. You can also put some sauce in the dog bowl and serve. Our kids were very excited to use this and I was happy that there are no blades and that this is safe for children to use. However, I did find that unless you really cook the hot dog, the juices squeeze out and it can get a little messy. I wasn't too concerned about that as mealtime with our kids is often messy and this slicer is dishwasher-safe. I also found that it was a little difficult for our kids to use on their own. Still, I'm very pleased with this product. It's cute and fun and the kids loved it.
